HOCHSEILKABELSTADT
AN INTUITIVE VISUAL CONCEPT BASED ON A DREAM
Hochseilkabelstadt is a place, I visited in my dreams. The name is not my invention; it was told to me in one of these dreams by a very striking figure while I was wandering through its endless corridors.
It is a place that has always drifted above the clouds and is in a constant state of change. Silos-like buildings, somehow interwoven with one another. In between, flying devices that are almost indistinguishable from the structures themselves. Endless corridors, passageways, and staircases. Small windows through which the “outside” shines in, filled with dancing dust.
A world that, due to its constant transformation, consists less of concrete images and more of its own atmosphere, color palette, and formal language: a nostalgic melancholy of eternity, stillness, and slowness.
At some point, I painted the first picture of it to capture exactly this feeling—not the dream itself, but its essence.
From this image, an ongoing, intuitive drawing process and a whole visual language developed. Through meditative doodling, new works have been continuously created since then, all following the same inner logic. They carry the same spirit and immediately bring me back into that dreamlike state.
The works appear as small analog illustrations but also find expression in acrylic paintings, large-scale murals and stickerdesigns.

the first painting was setting the tone. From this one, all the others derived from.

The concept of Hochseilkabelstadt works well across a variety of media, such as large-scale murals, sticker designs, or small-scale hand-drawn and hand-painted artworks.
